The Summer interlude would seem to be in full swin   Views:959
The Summer interlude would seem to be in full swing with very
few Owners actively pursuing tonnage.
BULKERS
There has been little action in the Dry Bulk sector, after some
recovery the BDI slipped again at the end of the week and Owners
seem happy to continue their Summer break and not get involved in
further transactions.
TANKERS
A fresh Vlcc transaction suggests that the “TI Creation”
(298,000/98) has been sold to Greek Buyers. Levels between
US$55.7 mill and US$ 57 mill may have been paid, we will no doubt
receive clariification shortly. The Aframaxes “Dubai Paradise”/
”Dubai Princess” (114,000/2009) are said to be sold for about
US$57.5 mill each to Brightoil in China.
CONTAINERS
Rumours suggested that the 2000 Teu vessel “Hamburgo” (built
1996) may have been sold region US$14.75/14.8 mill, however this
does not look to be the case and she is still being marketed for sale.
DEMOLITION
As at the end of July the running total of tonnage reported for
demolition is around 15.7 mill tdw, abt 3.9 mill ts lw. This compares
with last year at the same time which was abt 15.5 mill tdw and
around 4.7 mill ts lw. Prices remain firm despite the lack of any
recent involvement as yet from Bangladesh.
